A. Marshall Family Foods Inc. Continues Nashville Legacy with the Launch of Deacon’s New South

Downtown Nashville steakhouse brings Southern hospitality and upscale dining to business district

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 1, 2017) –  Esteemed local restaurateur Andy Marshall today hosted a grand opening of his latest culinary project, Deacon’s New South. Situated in the iconic Life & Casualty Tower at the intersection of 4th Avenue North and Church Street in downtown Nashville, Deacon’s New South will fill the void in upscale dining in the business district north of Broadway.

“It took our family more than three years to select the perfect venue, and we are beyond pleased with the serendipitous way that all the elements in Deacon’s New South came together,” said Andy Marshall, proprietor of Franklin-based A. Marshall Family Foods, Inc. “We have a terrific opening team, and our location is in proximity to the bustling business district, our Puckett’s downtown store and many other Music City attractions. We look forward to providing an innovative restaurant concept to the ever-growing downtown community and beyond.”

Deacon’s New South is more than a steakhouse, featuring inventive entrées with a modern twist and global influence on Southern fare. Renowned classically trained and locally based Chef Travis Sparks curated the menu, which features steaks with delicate flavors dry-aged, in-house up to 28 days and robust vegetable dishes sourced straight from Tennessee and Alabama farms, in addition to unique items such as bourbon-infused short ribs, lamb sausages and braised Tennessee rabbit.

The restaurant’s wine and beverage program will be directed by General Manager Jenn McCarthy, an established Master Sommelier Level 2. Deacon’s New South combines McCarthy’s experience with a wall of world-class wines and exclusive guest wine lockers.

In a nod to the L&C Tower and the district’s historic roots, Deacon’s New South’s casual, yet elegant atmosphere is inspired by the 1920s and 1930s Art Deco era, mirroring the architectural design of the building. Its vintage cocktail menu emulates the sleek look, pulling inspiration from European luxury hotels at the height of the American Prohibition.

The stunning space at Deacon’s New South is highlighted by a dark, masculine main dining room with feminine accents, an open viewing area for guests to watch the kitchen at work, intimate seating in L&C Tower’s atrium looking out on Church Street and an outdoor balcony elevated above the busy intersection. Deacon’s New South also has a private dining area for corporate events and special occasions that can host up to 70 guests.

Deacon’s New South is the 12th restaurant opened by the A. Marshall Family Foods, Inc. and a passion project for Andy Marshall, whose college nickname was “Deacon” for his kind and providing nature within his circle of friends. The steakhouse joins Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant’s five locations in downtown Franklin, downtown Nashville, Columbia, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro. In addition, the family owns and operates Puckett’s Boathouse in downtown Franklin, Puckett’s Trolley, Puckett’s Events & Catering, Homestead Manor in Thompson Station, Scout’s Pub in Franklin and Hattie Jane’s Creamery in Columbia and Murfreesboro.

Deacon’s New South will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
